Year 8 Timeline

Photos now on the parent portal of the Leaver’s Trip and Dinner!

Leavers’ Service

This is a more formal event in the theatre, with hymns, a few speeches and then light refreshments in the Bearcroft. Pupils in blazers but normal summer uniform. Blue shirts and shorts/trousers for boys and summer uniform for girls.

The service is approx. half an hour and a really lovely event for parents.

4.30pm start - Thursday 4th July, the day before Speech Day.

We will have the hoodies/tracksuits and Yearbooks to hand out after the service and I will take photos of them all and share!

Speech Day Friday 5th July

Children in as normal by 8.30am.

Parents join - be seated in the sports hall by 10.30am.

This is a formal event and the unofficial dress code is smart casual. If it’s your first time, you’ll see lots of mums in summer dresses and dads in shirts, trousers and jackets.

All our Year 8s will receive a tie or pen and have a moment to go up on stage as well as the prizes for the year in general and the individual cups and trophies.

Note from school. “Please could parents make sure that their son's hair is cut, looking neat and tidy ready for Speech Day.”

All pupils need to be wearing their blazers.

Boys need to be in their full school uniform of white shirt, tie, long grey trousers and blazer. NO SHORTS.

Girls need to be in their Summer uniform and blazer, long hair should be tied back please.

After Speech Day there will be lots of tears and hugs goodbye and everyone is free to leave as normal when they have had all their photos etc. You will NEVER regret taking that last photo by the sword in the stone, or with their favourite teacher or best friends. Get them all!

It’s been the greatest pleasure to watch them all thrive in the last few months, so much luck to all of them and hope they stay in touch!

A NEW ERA

We’d love to start an annual tradition - a Leavers ‘24 Cricket Match, in the summer holidays so please keep the Year 8 WhatsApp group and we will update with a date and time. Hope to see as many as possible and bring picnics!
